A helpful newsletter of tips and highlights from Personalized Expressions

Issue 5 - September/October 2006            (888) 496-7241 www.pecards.com
Looking for an easy way to insert monograms on a document? PE Pro version 8.1 has a great new monogram feature that makes it very simple to add initials to any product.

Located on the left-hand tool bar, you access it through this icon: The Monogram Layout options will appear and you simply enter in the three letters you wish. If your initials are A, B, and C, this feature will automatically push the last letter (C) to where it belongs - the middle of the monogram. You also have an option to replace one of the letters with an ampersand (&) if you like.

Five monogram fonts are automatically installed with the PE Pro 8.1 software: PE Newport HiLo, PE Newport Regular, PE Virko Diamond, PE Virko Circle and PE Virko Type. We've designed a new script monogram font PE Sonetta. It is available separately for only $75. (These and other fonts can be seen at www.pecards.com under the fonts link.)

Also included are different borders which you can simply turn on or off. Text color and angles are also options in the monogram layout.

We're sure you'll agree that our new monogram feature is an easy way to add elegance to your correspondence!

PLEASE NOTE: The font KM Signet is no longer available as part of our monogram feature. However, you can still create a monogram with this version as you did before (by inserting a text box and using the Character Map

Using the monogram feature above as well as an images from our Write in Style collection, we've created retro notecards using a series of squares and circles with borders. These shapes and more can be found in PE Pro under the Fixed Shape icon. () We also incorporated some trendy fall colors. Earth tones of burnt orange, ginger, pale vanilla, and rich clove are going to be big this year. As well as cooler mauve and blue tones like lilac, indigo, cobalt blue and turquoise. These colors also look great set against solid colors like oranges, fresh greens and warm or blush neutrals too! The Write in Style icons (decorative images) are inserted as an image using this icon and the borders on the squares and circles were created in the shape layout (right click on shape). From here you can choose the color, border thickness and more.

As every PE user should know, it is important that your customers are aware of all that your business can do for them. The more your customer knows about what's available to them, the more you can profit. Conveying that message to your employees is also key to running a successful business. Here are a few tips to pass on to everyone who works at your store.

 • Warm and cordial greetings are very important. They invite a customer into a trusting conversation. Shopping for invitations can be very overwhelming at times, so pay close attention to what they might be looking for and inquire if they're planning a special event.

 • Recommending product and services available can help if they are confused. Show them printed samples or previous jobs to spark their interest in personalization. Being familiar with the store's product is very important here.

 • If the customer needs his/her invitations in a short amount of time, you might want to suggest that he/she choose something from our albums or browser wings. If they have more time and have come more prepared, formal albums and other company's boxed product might be a good solution as well. Always thank them for choosing your store and let them know you will notify them when they're order is ready for pick up.

 • Role playing hypothetical situations and customer questions may help prepare your employees. One person can play the sales person and the other can play the customer. Practice a wide range of situations. Anywhere from a mother, who's daughter is getting married, to an informal 5 year old's birthday party at a pizza place.

Even if employees are rusty talking to customers or unfamiliar with the product and services your store has to offer, this conversation makes the customer feel that they have been properly taken care of. If they don't end up placing an order with you, they will always remember the friendly customer service and care that is guaranteed to get them to come back!
